Birds of prey in the Rauris Valley

In the valley of the vultures, the Rauriser Krumltal, bearded vultures, griffon vultures and golden eagles circle. With a bit of luck and a pair of binoculars, they can be observed in the wild - along with other wild animals such as marmots and chamois. If you want to get even closer to birds of prey, you can take the climate-friendly Hochalmbahnen to 1,800 m and visit the bird of prey show.

Quelli`s journey through the Rauris Valley

Water is a fascinating element for children - and there is plenty of it in the Rauris Valley, the valley of springs, and in Taxenbach! Whether in the impressive Kitzlochklamm, at the Rauriser UrQuell, a spring paradise with a small forest lake, at the numerous streams and waterfalls or at one of the water playgrounds in the Rauris Valley. The little ones can really let off steam at the Summererpark water playground in Rauris.

Embark on an exciting water journey through the Rauris Valley with our water drop "Quelli".

The adventurous journey of our Quelli begins at the end of the Rauris Valley, more precisely at the end of the Kolm Saigurn valley. It starts in the Hüttwinkl Ache, which is made up of numerous white waters that collect to form an ache on the northeast slope of the Hoher Sonnblick in the Goldbergkees area. Kolm Saigurn is known for gold mining and its wealth of minerals. Even today you can still find impressive evidence of the gold mining era here, as well as ruins of miners' houses. On his journey through the Hüttwinkltal, Quelli passes popular destinations such as the Rauris primeval forest, the waterfall circular path and the Bodenhaus gold panning site.

  • On his way through the Hüttwinkltal, our drop of water gets reinforcements from the Krumtltal Ache.

The Krumltal was chosen in 1986 for the re-introduction of bearded vultures. Today you can observe the majestic birds of prey and their relatives - bearded vultures and golden eagles - as well as various wild animals in the Krumltal. Guided hikes into the Krumltal are offered in the summer months.

The journey continues towards Wörth. Here Quelli is joined by his friends from the Seidlwinkl Ache. Where mule drivers once laboriously dragged salt, gold and goods across the Tauern, you will now find a fantastic hiking route along the water information trail. Here you can learn a lot of interesting things about water in the Rauris Valley and then stop off at one of the 4 certified SalzburgerLand Almsommer huts.

Quelli and his friends are now leaving Wörth behind... They treat themselves to a little break and lots of fun in the Rauriser Hochalmbahnen hiking area, especially at the reservoir and at the Heimalm gold panning area. A short stop and an ice cream at the Summererpark water playground in Rauris is of course part of the package.

Quelli and his friends' eventful journey is now slowly coming to an end. Our water drop now reaches the Kitzlochklamm, one of the most beautiful gorges in the Alps, via the Rauriser Ache. The unique natural spectacle with numerous idyllic bays, jagged rock faces, an impressive hermitage and the spectacular bridge make the gorge a destination for the whole family. Take care, little water drop - see you soon in the Rauris Valley!
