Together with a national park ranger interested person can hike to the sleeping places of the air acrobatics and watch the vultures. The sheer roosts of the vultures are a unique natural spectacle. White stripes of bird excrement on the rocky walls, often inhabited by orangy-red, nitrogen-loving lichen, make these roosts visible from far afield. Which is, why the locals often refer to them as the “Red Walls”.

An interactive exhibition presents a lot of facts about those biggest raptors of the Alps. A big screen cinema makes it possible to catch a glimpse of the private lives of the kings of the skies. You can watch bearded vultures paint their faces or watch golden eagles hunting.  Opening hours  winter time: Wednesday 4 pm to 7.30 pm, summer times daily 10.00 am to bis 6.00 pm.

The bearded vulture is the Alps largest bird and one of the rarest raptors in Europe.Probably no other raptor has made such a deep impression on people, as is shown by the numerous fables and legends concerning it. The Bearded vulture reaches 45 inches in size (from head to tail), its wingspan is almost 90 inches and it weighs about 11-15 pounds. The vultures feed mainly on carrion. The Bearded Vulture has even a more limited diet: it eats chiefly bleached bones.- These are by no means the worst parts of animal carcasses: A bone may contain up to 12% proteins, 16% fat and some important minerals. For 20 years, bearded Vultures have been released in the Alps, the first place for resettlement was the valley of vulture in Rauris.

Griffon vultures have remarkably broad wingspan which functions almost board-like articluary when gliding. The griffon vultures are on summer holiday in teh rauris valley. Every summer between 60-80 griffon vultures can be observed. Griffons are very social birds and prefer living and nesting in colonies. 

The Golden Eagle is one of the best known birds of prey in the Northern Hemisphere. These birds are dark brown, with lighter golden-brown plumage on their heads and necks. It has a wingspan averaging over 2 m (7 ft) and up to 1 m (3 ft) in body length. They are extremely swift, and can dive upon their quarry at speeds of more than 150 miles (241 kilometers) per hour. Golden eagles use their speed and sharp talons to snatch up rabbits, marmots, and ground squirrels. They also eat carrion, reptiles, birds, fish, and smaller fare such as large insects. They have even been known to attack full-grown deer.
